The Seventh Holy Night:

At Home with Parts

What we want with parts is harmony - a good fit.

In the Home of Parts we reflect on our relationships with others and how through those relationships we reach for wholeness.

You might ask your spiritual companion why the gods designed us to be incomplete.  I find great beauty in the irony that the more we evolve our incomplete individuality the more we can harmoniously unite to others and the wholeness of humanity.

In this home we work at filling in the blanks in all aspects of ourselves by connecting with others. We must examine the fit of these parts, the ones we have and the ones others bring to us, in the loving and reverent light of the 7th Holy Night.

Parts fall into to categories. Here are a few I imagine as I look around my Home of Parts.

The perfect parts! Yes, we each have perfect parts, just right parts, that don't require anythingelse to be whole, useful, or beautiful.  Sometimes we project the perfection on to others. These aren't the treasures we make, they are part of who we are.

The missing parts or holes.  Nothing to be ashamed of, but we must recognize them, see the whole puzzle and then look for the missing pieces. If we are clear about what's missing then we can understand why we need certain others to be active in our lives. Working with the puzzle image, I thought of how in my firendships we provide the missing pieces for each other or point them out...invaluable. How are you a piece in another's puzzle?

The poison parts.  These are the enemies, betrayers, abusers, neglectors, abandonners, inflators.  If you struggle with recognizing these poison parts or letting go of them, discuss this with your spiritual companion.   One of the veils that lift during the Holy Nights is the veil of appearances, of looking nice.  When our souls are illuminated with innocence and the wisdom of the Holy Nights we find the compassionate courage to end the toxic relationships with our apparent lovers, our apparent friends, our apparent colleagues.

The broken parts.  The House of Parts is where we come to mend and repair the broken parts of our relationships.  Here we look for the karmic threads to stitch the torn seams or the karmic glue to hold together what has divided. But sometimes parts are shredded or shattered and cannot be repaired...so we learn to find harmony without certain parts.

Our spiritual companion to helps us discern the poison parts from the broken parts.  We must cast out the one and restore the other.

Don't forget the little bits Little bits are the tiny moments of coming together with a stranger that provided a sometimes huge piece for your soul's puzzle.

Are you at home with parts? What other images of parts and how they fit together come alive in your heart tonight?

Don't forget to use the attached guide with a number of suggested questions. It will help you go deeper into your feeling of at-homeness.
