11th Holy Night: Encountering Thou as Regulator
Published: Sat, 01/04/14

Will is a force of activity and needs to be regulated to manifest in harmony. In contemplating Thou as regulator, I found myself finding the most illuminating metaphors living in the experience of driving a car.
A car has to get you from one place to another. As driver you have an intention to leave one place and arrive at a predetermined destination. As we drive safely toward our destination, we must regulate the many forces of the car.
With our will we want to take our soul's intention to its manifest destiny. Like a car...will has an ignition, an accelerator, a brake, and a clutch:
- The ignition initiates or turns off the engagement of will.
- The accelerator increases the speed and intensity of will.
- The brake decreases the speed and intensity of will.
- A clutch connects or disconnects the transmission of will so shifts can occur.
The Thou as Regulator observes and measures the force of our manifesting activity and suggests starting, speeding up, slowing down, taking a break, shifting gears and shutting off.
I have never found another individual who mastered and commanded the regulation of their own will. My own lack of self-regulation often leaves me feeling either bad or weak.
I don't know that I have encountered the Thou of another that observed my need for regulation and, without judgment, spoke into my will a hint of some part of the mysteries of regulation. Or perhaps it is my own attachment to negative self-judgment keeps me from encountering the Thou as Regulator.
Where do I go too fast, unable to brake? Where do I go too slow, unable to shift from brake to accelerator? And shifting gears can be so difficult because I haven't mastered the clutch and I often stall out or strip my intentions of their engagement.
I do love the ignition...light up and fire up - what a "turn on." But to turn the ignition off, to sense arrival at my destination, less of a challenge than in the past, but still the not mastered.
What about your will regulation? What self-knowledge of your will forces do you discover using the metaphors of driving a car?
Have you found support and wise counsel regarding regulation from the Thou living in another?
For some the Holy Nights presage the 12 months of the new year. What do you want to manifest by November that will require conscious regulation of your will?
