The Sixth Holy Night - The Gift of Tension

The theme for the Eighth Year of Inner Christmas Messages is
The Twelve Gifts.
Human life runs its course in the metamorphosisbetween receiving and giving.GoetheThe Sixth Gift ~ Tension
Imagine the tension of the threshold between spirit and matter, between light and dark, between self and other, between who you are and who you are becoming. This is the tension that lifts the veils, the mood of the Holy Nights. Let's contemplate the gifts of that sacred tension.
Sacred tension crystalizes the energy for conception, birth, initiative. A womb is amazingly relaxed allowing the fetus to grow, but astonishingly tense when giving birth. Following birth the womb goes flaccid and needs to restore its normal tension to be ready for the next conception of life. Look into your soul. Where do you find the rising tension of impending birth?
Sacred tension creates the feeling of arousal and alerts you to something calling you, telling you the time is at hand, that metamorphosis is occurring. Where do you feel the tension of your soul evolving?
Sacred tension tells you that you are relating - the more tension, the more intimacy in the relationship. All relationships thrive in a social tension. Not a tug of war, but a tug of love. There is a loving tension in a hug, in the conscious embrace of otherness. When someone holds you they are providing a physical, emotional and spiritual tension as they stretch their heart to embrace yours. Who holds you with just the right amount of tension? How do you return the embrace?
Sacred tension contains, protects, expands, contracts, empowers and loves. What is the sacred tension you feel when you say what only you can say, "I am."
Too much tension is agitation or anxiety. Too little is depression or apathy. Just right is spirited aliveness.
Yes, the Holy Nights are about establishing the right spiritual tension to sustain you for the coming year as you live in the threshold between spirit and matter, between light and dark, between self and other, between who you are and who you are becoming.
In these messages and all the comments, the writing/giving and reading/receiving, we share the sacred tension of the Holy Nights.
The Inner Christmas messages are not the inner work of the Holy Nights. They are invitations or gateways into the Holy Nights.
Each message has a topic based on the theme of the
year. I offer a creative exploration of the topic, and a number of
questions to consider around the topic as a way to find your individual
relationship to the topic and a new, clarifying, liberating perspective
on yourself.
The messages are not definitive, they are encouraging.
Reading the messages is not the experience of the Holy Nights. The Holy Nights are a cosmic experience that can only be felt within your own soul. Be confident and know they are YOUR Holy Nights.
