I can feel the emotions churning - mine and yours. Too often home has not been home in my/your biography and I have never stopped finding my way home. Am I there yet?
 
Work for a few minutes with all your emotional feelings about home.  Write them down with compassion and objectivity.  It helps to realize that you do not need to identify your sense of self with your sense of home.
 
The Christmas Story takes place in a strange stable - an unfamiliar home.  Curious to use the word unfamiliar.  In an unfamiliar place a family is born and rests and receives gift-bearing visitors. An everlasting light shines down on this unfamiliar and strange home and an everlasting light shines forth from it.
 
Is a home a strange and surprising place where something in you can be born? where you can rest? where you receive humble and wise visitors? where light shines in and out?
 
Who is the innkeeper, who cannot give you the expected place, but has the heart and courage to offer you the unexpected, maybe undesired, home where something of great wonder can be born in you?
 
Are you willing to be an innkeeper? When someone comes seeking a home for the moment can you offer them what is needed?

In contemplating home during these Holy Nights, I seem to recognize that I want to feel at home in the Threshold space where spirit shines through matter.  I want Divine Purpose to build a home in my thoughts, feelings and deeds. I want a sweet home for all that I am in all that I am.
 
 


The Inner Christmas messages are not the inner work of the Holy Nights. They are invitations or gateways into the Holy Nights.
 
Each message has a topic based on the theme of the year. I offer a creative exploration of the topic, and a number of questions to consider around the topic as a way to find your individual relationship to the topic and a new, clarifying, liberating perspective on yourself.

The messages are not definitive, they are encouraging.

Reading the messages is not the experience of the Holy Nights. The Holy Nights are a cosmic experience that can only be felt within your own soul. Be confident and know they are YOUR Holy Nights.
