The theme for the 2011/12 Inner Christmas Messages is

The Twelve Gifts.

I found two inspirations for the theme of The Twelve Gifts.

The first is a gift of wisdom from the German poet and scientist, Johann Wofgang von Goethe

Human life runs its course in the metamorphosis
between receiving and giving.

The second comes from the Gospel of Matthew

Here is the King James version.

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Keep both these inspirations in your heart as you find your own relationship to the Twelve Gifts. Remember each soul gift is received and given. This is what makes each soul gift different from a material gift. The gift must be given before it is truly received.

My Thoughts on the Twelve Gifts

I will share thoughts about twelve gifts, gifts to and for your soul that become gifts of and from your soul. Each night consider the gift, how it is received and finally how the gift is given.

During the Holy Nights, veils lift and thin, allowing for a purer connection with our own souls and with the spiritual world and spiritual beings. But we must bring relaxed, open, heart attention to experience this yearly mysterious and deeper connection.

I do want to encourage you to relax and open as you read and work with the Inner Christmas messages. Release any preconceptions about "doing it right," or creating and fulfilling an ideal. The Holy Nights are a time of unconditional love, not about perfection and judgement.

I also want to encourage you to create a form for your Holy Nights' attention. Find a space/place and determine a time of day and a length of time for your contemplation. This creates a mood of sacred intention. You deserve this.

Please go to the Inner Christmas Messages to download the Guide to Inner Christmas. (You will need to download Adobe Reader to be able to open the Guide. Click here.) This is the beautiful new design by Lee Hannam of Yellowfish Design  in Forest Row, England.

I asked Lee to create a pdf of the Inner Christmas Star without any text so I could give it to you a gift! You can download it from the website. If you love it as much as I do, you may want to take it to a printer and do it poster size. It is quite lovely just printed on your home printer. I suggest you print it in photo quality.

The Solitude of the Holy Nights

Your Inner Christmas is yours alone. Each year we birth ourselves anew during the Holy Nights. No one else can experience this for us or with us. It is my hope that each Inner Christmas message supports your new inner birth.

But what you experience in the glory of your inner solitude, can be shared with others if you carefully and thoughtfully write about it.

Your descriptions, your insights, particularly your questions can be living inspirations for others. Please leave your comment, knowing it blesses others --  not everyone, but someone will be encouraged by your courage. Your willingness to be vulnerable, transparent and luminous changes the future.

The Inner Christmas messages are not the inner work of the Holy Nights. They are invitations or gateways into the Holy Nights.

Each message has a topic based on the theme of the year. I offer a creative exploration of the topic, and a number of questions to consider around the topic as a way to find your individual relationship to the topic and a new, clarifying, liberating perspective on yourself.

The messages are not definitive, they are encouraging.

Reading the messages is not the experience of the Holy Nights. The Holy Nights are a cosmic experience that can only be felt within your own soul. Be confident and know they are YOUR Holy Nights.
