Two Questions to Ask Before Having Conversations With Spiritual Beings
Published: Sat, 10/17/09
Hi ,
A conversation with a spiritual being is not a prayer or a meditation. Like prayer and meditation, a conversation is sacred activity. But there is something more. So let's explore the more.
To discover the more we need to begin with pondering two basic questions. The first question is "What is a conversation?" In a short blog post I ask some questions and share some thoughts on conversation. (I'll ask the second question next week.)
Few of us had any schooling on conversing. We were taught etiquette and convention. We were taught how to gather information and how to report events. We were taught to be polite and do small talk. But developing the capacity and skills for real talk, conversations of significance and illumination, was ignored. What a crippling shame.
I don't do party talk and I don't like reporting. I get bored and I get anxious when I am in a social situation that is suppose to be superficial and doesn't allow for an engagement of depth. I also experience that superficial conversations aren't fun. Real conversations are fun, exciting and juicy.
I like conversations of wonder and meat. I want to open up, take in
and chew! I want to have risk living in a conversation - a sense that
this conversation will make me new, change me, add something, take
away something, reframe something, enliven something. I also find real conversations are the ones that let me cry and make me laugh.
I could write a dozen posts on conversation but I think I just hit on a key purpose - conversations make us more than we were before the conversation.
Go to the Inner Year Blog and explore the first question you need to answer to some degree before you can have a conversation with a spiritual being. And please post your responses.
I'm looking at two conversations and two invitations right now. The Inner Christmas conversation/invitation and the conversation/invitation on "Having Conversations With Spiritual Beings."
HELP ME DESIGN MY
NEW INNER CHRISTMAS WEBSITE
Once I send this email out, I will be working all day on building a new website - need to update www.innerchristmas.com to be ready for the marketing efforts now that my book, Six Ways To Celebrate Christmas! & Celebrate You!, is available.
The new website needs to have the look and the feel of an invitation to a conversation. A new conversation about you and about Christmas, in this case. How do I create that invitation? What is an inviting conversation?
On the web a conversation has a big visual gesture embracing the words, thoughts and meanings. If any of you have thoughts on this, please email me. Stimulate me with possibilities. Let me know your questions. Share with me your path to an inspired and inspiring web design. FYI, my launch date is November 1st.
CONVERSATIONS WITH SPIRITUAL BEINGS
November 1st is All Saints Day and the first session of my teleseminar on "Having Conversations With Spiritual Beings."
HCWSB is a wonderful experience. It makes sense of our active connections with angels, gods, spirits, elementals, souls, all those beings of spirit that surround our daily lives, our deep questions, our longings for meaning and comfort.
The teleseminar will enrich your engagement with these beings. It will help you make sense of the process and the content of each conversation. You can read more about the teleseminar here.
AN AUTUMN CONVERSATION SUGGESTION
Have a conversation with a tree, a maple or oak or elm about fall and falling leaves. Ask a question, listen and respond.
Enjoy,
Lynn
