The Joyful Inspiration of St John's Tide

Published: Mon, 06/23/08

Dear ,

June 24th, St John's Tide is the festival of the Solstice.
It celebrates the birthday of John the Baptist and asks
our souls to joyfully recognize what lives in the hearts of others.

I was having dinner with friends tonight when Alan remarked having
worked on a farm when he was 14.  He shared how the farmer's wife
cooked what was in season.

Not so long ago most of our lives reflected the gifts and
limitations of the seasons.  Not so nowadays.

This is confusing to our bodies and souls.  We have lost the
grounding, harmonizing cyclical reality of Nature. Technology has overtaken
Nature as the shaper of our lives.

Now we must find Nature within our souls. We must celebrate the Inner
Year. There are certain moods and gestures of soul that we can
pay attention to at the equinoxes and seasonal practices to develop that give the soul a "natural" sense of cosmic and personal grace.

In my Inner Year blog, I share a brief picture of what our soul
might think about on this festival of St John. Please visit my blog at

St John's Tide is not well known and certainly not understood as  a
time of inner significance.  But it is important.  Read my blog and
nurture your soul.

With blessings,
Lynn
