Many people resist taking the Inner Christmas Journey because they are afraid of knowing themselves. Afraid they aren’t good enough, strong enough, smart enough, organized enough, productive enough, loving enough. (Add to the list of not enough, it’s
endless.)
They are afraid their year has lacked any meaning. They are afraid they won’t feel any inspiration during the Holy Nights. They don’t believe that they can imagine any real purpose for the
coming year.
So they decide that they don’t have the time or the money to enroll in the Inner Christmas Journey. Or they decide it is not in alignment with their spiritual path or their social
life, or they don't trust in me as a guide.
But they are really afraid of self-love. They think they don’t deserve it. They confuse self-love with egotism. They feel comfortable with self-criticism
and self-doubt, but not with self-love. (Yes, I write from my own experience!)
Do you resist self-love? Underneath the resistance do you find a longing?
The Inner Christmas Journey is about you just as you are. as an evolving soul. It does not require perfection. It accepts the complexity of your narrative life. It begins with wonder and ends with being a little
bit wiser about yourself. I guarantee this. If by mid-January you haven't unwrapped a gift of self-love. I will refund your $97.
Trust me as a guide or mapmaker. Trust yourself to discover,
explore, and arrive.
I have not created a box to confine, or a promise to entrap. I have not designed a test or a scorecard. I have imagined a process, a path, and a possibility.
I am passionate about self-love. Only human beings are capable of this selfhood. Aren’t our lives about becoming fully human, fully self? Is self-love ever selfish?
I truly want you to know yourself in wisdom, freedom, and love. You are extraordinary...one of a kind. I am so glad you are you.
In my more than three decades of supporting others in learning how to know/love themselves, I have seen the empowering truth of “O Human Soul, Know Thyself” and “Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself.”
As I have written:
The more I love myself ACTIVELY, the more I love others.
The more I love others ACTIVELY, the more I love myself.
Actively is the key. Otherwise it is a thought or a feeling, but not a deed of love.
The Inner Christmas Journey is an active deed of self-love. You deserve this deed and the world needs your love.
I wrote the above words yesterday. Then this morning with my first cup of coffee, I was reading an essay on Prescientific Thought; The Nature of Mythical-Religious Thought which spoke of the stabilizing and illuminating role of ritual.
Bingo! Flashing Lights! Gabriel’s Horn!
The Inner Christmas Journey is the yearly ritual of selfhood and a rite of passage. Know your meaning! Receive your inspirations! Imagine your
purpose! Love your Self so you can love Others!
Do the ritual on your own, then join in the Zoom Gatherings and experience loving others and others loving you.
I was texting with someone who has joined me for Inner Christmas for many years and she wrote:
“And the truth is Lynn, human beings “deserve” to reconnect with their Self and your teachings provide so much in this effort.”
