Dearest Friends,
Mapping out a sky,
What you feel like, planning a sky,
What you feel when voices come through the window,
Go
Until they distance and die,
Until there’s nothing but sky.
Stephen Sondheim, Sunday in the Park with George.
Stephen Sondheim, who crossed the Threshold in late November, wrote these lyrics about the art of creating in his musical inspired by Georges Seurat, the painter and his masterwork, “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte.”
Exquisitely, these words describe the experience of the soul during the Holy Nights. The soul’s potential on each of the twelve Holy Nights is to seek the spirit, hears the whispers of the angels, and mysteriously become nothing but spirit.
Imagine your soul understanding what it is to be holy. Imagine seeking the Threshold where all is holy, every thought, every feeling, every intention. All our thoughts, feelings, and deeds becoming one like the over 220.000 dots of color that create Seurat’s painting.
What words will plan your holiness? When do these words distance and die? Where in your soul is there only holiness, nothing but pure spirit?
The Inner Christmas Messages are the words, imaginations, and questions that plan your Holy Nights. They are the windows through which you can hear the voices of the angels.
