Today, July 1, 2024, the balance of democratic power shifted in the United States. The Supreme Court gave supreme power to the President. Democracy, the power of the citizens, was sacrificed to the power of the individual who is President.
What is the thinking, the feeling, and the will of the American people in relationship to the individual who is President? How does the Constitution impact the morality of the individual who is President?
We have two candidates for President. One who is old and when he is tired his age shows but he sees the office of the Presidency as a responsibility to serve the country and obey the Constitution.
The other candidate seems to disregard all service to the country, obedience to the Constitution and sees the office as a playpen for narcissistic indulgence.
One candidate is
truly a responsible American inspired by and devoted to the ideals and challenges of leading a democracy.
The other has no conception of the social ideals of being an American and fails to show any interest in the responsibility, the humbling responsibility, of leadership.
As a voting citizen, neither candidate thrills me, but one seems to have humility and the other arrogance. One has reverence for the Constitution and the other has never even read it.
I feel the USA is facing an evolutionary and development crisis and opportunity. When you vote, which candidate is serving the future of the American destiny? Which candidate seeks the power to serve his own selfish agenda disregarding the needs of all
citizens and democracy?
As a citizen, what is your greatest fear? Which candidate cares about your fear?
Years ago I learned that evil will seduce our thinking with false promises; will abuse our feeling with lies and betrayals; will abandon our will with narcissistic justifications.
We need to have conversations (where two or more are gathered) where our fears and our ideals meet reverence for their differences. Conversations where we can be seen, heard, and encouraged with compassion, vulnerability, and co-creative responsibility.
Political evolution is not easy. We need political evolution NOW. But I want to feel that as citizens we can trust our President to model reverence for differences.
The Supreme Court has interpreted the Law of the Constitution as giving indulgent freedom and privilege to any individual that achieves the role of the president, even when that achievement is based on lies, seduction, and ignorance of the Constitution.
My maternal ancestral stream has called the United States home for over 300 years. My ancestors have fought in every American War (the good ones and the bad). As an individual, I will fight for the ideals of democracy and the needs of our times and the
possibilities of our collective future…the future of my grandchildren.
You and I may have different fears and ideals. Let’s gather and converse in the mood of reverence and interest in differences, the essential
mood of democratic consciousness.
I feel a responsibility that each of us needs choices for leadership that value integrity, humility, compassion, and sacrifice. We need a leader that will serve the
Constitution, not override it for selfish, indulgent, egotistical, and ignorant needs.
How do each of us as voters serve the future, not just our own needs and biases?
