Hi dear one,
This morning as I was checking the news online, I learned that 50 years ago today the Beatles performed together for the last time. Reading the article brought up grief. Something of my contemporary cultural self was lost when the Beatles broke up.
If I wasn't focusing on the inner freedom of grief, I might not have noticed the feelings in my body or recognized the cause of my avoidance of pop culture 50 years ago. Three years later I married a man 25 years older than me. Not being attached to the music of my generation helped with the age difference as I could share a love of Gershwin and Rodgers and Hart with my husband. So there was a karmic purpose behind the narrative loss.
Through the freeing lens of my grief, I can understand myself beyond the dramas of my story.
We all have experienced cultural grief, but have we paid attention to its impact on our lives? I am feeling heart heavy and heart mystified about the impact of the loss of the Beatles as I right this. It brings up all kinds of questions and insights about myself.
Imagine Self, all the blogposts, courses, and conversations, brings comfort, teaching, guidance and encouragement to this earthly challenge and spiritual necessity of self-knowledge, self-compassion and self-expression. This weekend you can join me to look at some of the ways grief shapes and reveals your stories and your karma.

This webinar is loaded with soul wisdom. It provides insights to make sense of your life and set you inwardly free.
We will cover these topics and there will be time for comments and questions throughout the webinar.
- What is inner freedom and why must we work to develop our capacity for inner freedom?
- Understand the 3 types of grief/loss and how they relate to your inner freedom: Narrative Grief, Karmic Grief, Traumatic Grief.
- Distinguish the seven Realms of Self: Contribution, Relationship, Well-being, Inner Development, Home, Finances, and Dreams. How do loss and grieving appear and resolve in each area?
- What are the questions you need to ask yourself as you grieve, narratively and karmically, that will restore and evolve your sense of self.
Grief is a response to a loss of self.
Our sense of self is built and our loss of self occurs in seven main realms: contribution, relationship, well-being, inner development, home, finances, and dreams.
Losses occur at every stage of life: childhood, adolescence, college, young adulthood, midlife, and so forth - basically the seven-year periods of life unfolding.
Losses can be small and bittersweet or dramatic and heartbreaking...anywhere in between.
With right grieving we can revere the past, integrate the loss, and evolve.
Grieving is a necessary and sacred process to express our emotional suffering in our narrative and to arrive at an understanding of our karma.
Grief ignored, denied or stuck cripples our soul and sickens our body in the any of the seven realms and stages of life.
We are not encouraged to grieve. We are not taught about the value of grief. Grief is not protected and nurtured culturally, morally or spiritually. Without a conscious and right relationship to grief, we will not be whole or free.
I will describe the upcoming course on Imagining Your Inner Freedoms.
