Dear Friend,
A couple of years ago, I did a presentation on The
Karma of Relationship and and I committed to offer a course on the topic. Reflecting on the presentation, I was going to begin the course with three modules on equanimity, the calm, centered state of soul which is the foundation of all self-awareness and spiritual imagination. Everyone I talked with was excited to dive into the karma of relationship…making sense of the crazy narratives of our interactions with others. But I kept finding myself being directed, pulled to focus on
the mystery of equanimity. Why?
Look at what has happened in the world and in our lives since over the few years since…ever increasing chaos! I feel we need to develop greater equanimity in all areas of living. Don't
you?
Myself and everyone I know are struggling with our times and our lives. We seem to be in a swirling sea of turbulent reactions, trying to find a way to stay afloat, not sink into the dark swirling waters of despair or
desperation.
Over the next few days I will be throwing you a life preserver, a soul preserver. I will be sharing with you the introductory steps on the pathway to Holy Calm in Chaotic Times.
For thirty years, I have followed my calling to guide other individuals to a more comprehensive awareness of their humanity. Being fully human isn't easy. It's deep inner work. It means knowing your Self, knowing others, knowing the world, and
knowing the Divine. It is entering the mysteries, the archetypes, the abyss while still writing your grocery list, worrying about the election, earning a paycheck, and watching Netflix.
Contemplating the meaning and purpose of
Equanimity, considering how to develop equanimity in all the complexities, crises, and chaos of our crazy lives and unbelievable times has been my focus for years. Every day my thoughts, grounded in all my years of spiritual research and reaching for all I've not yet understood, have been questing for a living imagination of equanimity. I've struggled to penetrate both the individual experience but also the universal archetypes of chaos and equanimity. I've seen glimmers of Holy
Calm.
Goethe said "Any object well-contemplated develops a new organ of perception." Goethe's amazing ability to contemplate well rested in the grace of Holy Calm. Rudolf Steiner's insight "Wisdom is crystalized suffering." tells us
that equanimity is the state of soul we need to crystalize our suffering and find wisdom. Please spend some time with me contemplating and crystalizing equanimity.
In the video below I am sharing a conversation I had with Jane Reed,
a client/friend, about Chaos, Holy Calm and Equanimity. We explore definitions and necessities. The video is just under 30 minutes. Fix yourself a cup of tea or a glass of wine, and spend this time with us.
I am certain you
will feel clearer, more centered, and feel a greater integrity...more fully human, more fully you... after listening. And when you register for the rest of the Introduction, you will find more insights and guidance to work with. You are worth the time, the attention and the contemplation! Give it to yourself!
