Our karma and our destiny shaped the parenting we received
that left us with unmet needs. This often causes trauma, grief, rage, and chronic challenges in our sense of self. But parenting that fails to meet our needs is often the parenting that evolves into the gift of motivating self-knowledge and self-imagining. Somehow we move beyond the self as a happily-ever-after fantasy to a self as evolving individuality.
There is no perfect parenting in the sense of the ideal. When we contemplate the parenting we received that left our needs unmet from a place of equanimity, we come to see how each unmet need provided the possibility of wisdom that can only emerge through suffering our unmet needs.
Wisdom reveals the self-compassionate deeds of self-parenting and suggests the awakening of an inner mother and inner father.
