Hi Dear Wonderful Soul,
It’s been called the Greatest Story Ever Told and sadly, the story, as great and beautiful as it is, distracts from finding within our own soul the purpose of the story.
Holy Week is probably the most complex of all religious stories. If you want to go beyond the story to its living meaning, choose one aspect of the story and find a question to ask about it.
This is my 76th Easter. Until my 42nd Easter, my relationship to the events of Holy Week were pretty superficial and only had to do with what the New Testament and religion told me, with one very personal exception: my son was born on Good Friday when I was 34. Three years later I enrolled my son in nursery school and my daughter in 2nd grade in the Waldorf School of Princeton and I met
anthroposophy and my spiritual life began to wake up to the importance of asking living questions.
Living questions are the ones that can't be killed by a globally
correct answer! Living questions seed more questions and awaken Imaginations, Inspirations, and Intuitions that come alive in your soul.
What is your living Easter
Question?
I still remember my son asking me when he was 8 or 9, “Why is Good Friday good?” Now that is an example of a living Easter Question.
I encourage you to find a 9 year old in your soul and listen for their Easter Question. Don’t answer this question out of your
religious beliefs. Just receive the question in your wondering soul, your imaginative heart.
I had a powerful Easter
heart imagination yesterday. I am sitting in a church on Good Friday and a man comes and sits beside me. His Presence defies description. He turns to me and asks His Easter Questions “What is happening here? What is this about?”
If Jesus Christ looked you in your heart and asked you to share the meaning of the events of Holy Week, what would you say? Would you tell Him the story He lived or what lives in your heart?
Do you see that Easter is so much more than religious belief, religious practice, It is not about a story of historical events or a ritual. Easter is about you and your incarnating I. It is not about celebrating and worshiping. It is about your living soul.
I share some thoughts, imaginations, and questions to inspire your Inner Easter question on my Substack page https://lynnjericho.substack.com/.
